Placed in Tarragona, the company aims to investigate and develop innovative biomedical devices based on nanobiotechnology, photonics and Lab-on-a-chip to improve the health, well-being and safety of people.

Sara Gómez, Ph.D., R&D Director

R&D Director at Medcom Advance, S.A. since January 2017. Previously working as senior research officer at the same company, developing Lab-on-a-Chip systems with biomedical purposes. Focused on transferring basic research outcomes from the laboratory to the market. Good knowledge and experience on manufacturing, quality control, intellectual property and regulatory aspects. Deep scientific background including Lab-on-a-Chip, Nanobiotechnology, Microfluidics, Microfabrication, and Optical Sensors. Co-inventor in three patent applications and main author or co-author of scientific articles in high impact journals.

 

Manuel García, Ph.D., Lab Coordinator, Scientist

Joined the company in 2014 and currently working as Lab Coordinator and Scientist at Medcom Advance, S.A. since April 2019. Deep experience in Nanobiotechnology and Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering spectroscopy, and knowledge on Lab-on-a-Chip devices. Co-inventor in three patent applications and main or co-author of several scientific papers in high impact journals.

 

Giacomo Z. G. Fonseca, Ph.D., Scientist

Scientist at Medcom Advance, S.A. since April 2021. In charge of Raman spectroscopy and data analysis. Deep knowledge of nano-photonics, optomechanics, non-linear optics, imaging, spectral analysis, and optical detection schemes.

María Rivero, Ph.D., Scientist

Scientist at Medcom Advance, S.A. since November 2018. In charge of the synthesis of highly efficient SERS encoded nanoparticles. Deep experience in synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles.

 

Albert Ferriol, M.Sc., Jr. Scientist

Joined Medcom Advance, S.A. in September 2019 as Jr. Scientist. Focused on the biofunctionalization of nanostructures and biological assays. Background in nanoparticles synthesis for drug delivery and in-vitro cell assays.

 

Samantha Grand, M.Sc., Jr. Scientist

Joined Medcom Advance, S.A. in May 2019 as Jr. Scientist. Working on the synthesis of highly efficient SERS encoded nanoparticles. Experience in Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF) synthesis, synthesis and characterization of impregnated catalysts, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

 

Anna Mur, M.Sc., Jr. Scientist

Jr. Scientist at Medcom Advance, S.A. since September 2018. In charge of microbiological cultures and immunological assays. Experience in antimicrobial agents and molecular microbiology.

 

Laura Pol, Ph.D., Jr. Scientist

Jr. Scientist at Medcom Advance, S.A. since January 2021. Working on the biofunctionalization of nanostructures and biological assays. Experience on biosensors based in aptamers in nanoporous materials for protein detection.

Joined Medcom Advance, S.A. in April 2017 as Administrative and Lab associate. In charge of administrative tasks and laboratory maintenance. Several years of experience in retail, focused on customer and quality service and administrative issues.
